Hospital, clinic and school building painting · St. Lucie County

Painting St. Lucie County hospitals, clinics and school buildings

Healthcare and school buildings in St. Lucie County range from Cleveland Clinic's seven-story hospital in Tradition to schools and clinics across the county. Romco quotes painting for buildings like these. We are a contractor, not a healthcare or education provider.

In a hospital or clinic, work areas are agreed with the facility's own staff, who set the rules for dust, odor, noise and which corridors may close. Romco follows those rules and builds the phase plan from them.

Schools are usually painted when classes are out. Older ones bring the lead question. The EPA renovation rule covers child-occupied facilities built before 1978, such as kindergarten classrooms and day care centers, and requires a certified firm for work that disturbs paint there. Romco finds out whether a room falls under it and, if so, brings in a certified firm.

Newer buildings, such as the Florida Research and Innovation Center in Tradition, bring different questions: the coating system the architect specified, and keeping a 107,000-square-foot building working while it is painted.

Order of work

  1. Meet facility staff and get their rules for dust, odor and access.
  2. Check building age and whether the lead rule applies.
  3. Write the scope by wing, floor and phase.
  4. Set up containment where the facility requires it.
  5. Prepare and paint each phase, then clean and release it.
  6. Walk each area with facility staff and close the punch list.

What usually goes wrong

Where this job goes wrong in St. Lucie County

Dust near patients

Sanding and opening walls near patient areas needs containment the facility approves. Romco works inside the facility's rules and does not set them.

Lead in pre-1978 classrooms

Disturbing old paint in a pre-1978 kindergarten or day care triggers the EPA rule. We check the building's age and paint before scoping prep.

A short school break

Classes return on a fixed date. The scope is split so that rooms finish in order and the most used spaces come back first.

Outside scope

Lead abatement, asbestos work, mold remediation, medical gas, fire alarm and electrical work are separate licensed scopes. Romco coordinates licensed firms and does not perform them.

Questions

About hospital, clinic and school building painting

Are you a healthcare contractor?

Romco is a licensed Florida general contractor that quotes painting for hospital and clinic buildings. The facility's own staff set the infection and safety rules we work under.

Can school painting happen during the break only?

That is the usual plan. The scope is split so the rooms needed first on return are finished first.

What will painting my St. Lucie building cost?

We do not give a figure until we have walked the building, because the number turns on things a phone call cannot show: how much stucco needs repair, how the walls are reached, whether a Port St. Lucie color review or a Fort Pierce certificate comes first, and how the wash water is captured. After the walk you get a written quote, broken out by surface and by step, so you can compare it line by line.

Is there a job size Romco will not quote?

No. We quote one repainted tenant suite in a plaza on US 1 and we quote the full exterior of an oceanfront condominium on Hutchinson Island. Small jobs get the same written scope as large ones.

Is Romco licensed?

Yes. Romco Builders is a licensed Florida general contractor. It was founded in 2015, is based in Fort Lauderdale, and runs St. Lucie County painting jobs under that license.

How Romco runs it

The order of work

  1. Walk the building, check the jurisdiction

We confirm whether the address falls under the county, Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce or St. Lucie Village, and note any historic designation.

  2. Write the scope

Surfaces, repairs, coatings, access equipment and working hours go into one written scope, so the quote compares line by line.

  3. Clear color approvals

Where Port St. Lucie's chart or a Fort Pierce certificate applies, the color is approved before any paint is ordered.

  4. Prepare and contain

Cleaning, repairs and masking come first, with wash water captured instead of sent to a storm inlet.

  5. Apply the coatings

Coats go on to the maker's written instructions for temperature, humidity and recoat time, not to a calendar.

  6. Walk it and close out

We walk the finished surfaces with you, write a punch list, finish it and hand over the color and product records.
